Multicultural Day: one of the bandsIt’s the September long weekend this weekend (14–17 September), so many places will be closed on Friday 14th and Monday 17th. The good news is, the museum at the John Gray Centre will be open at the usual times!

In fact, all the East Lothian Council Museums will be open over the weekend, and most especially Prestongrange Museum near Prestonpans, which is hosting our annual Family Multicultural Day on Sunday 16th from 12pm to 6pm. It’s always a great day out, and this year we’ve got more on than ever, with more tasty food and drink, more bands, more storytelling … even more fun! So do drop in – as always, it’s free (though some things, such as the food, will be charged).

The Archives and Local History Centre are closed on Friday, Saturday and Monday, but will be open for Doors Open Day on Sunday 16th. We’re throwing open the Archives between 10am and 1.30pm for guided tours behind the scenes. So pop in and explore our state-of-the-art archive store! (Please note that the Archives and Local History Centre are not open for ‘normal service’ on Sunday though, just for the guided tours.)

The Library will be closed for the full four days, Friday–Monday.

And when we’re all back to normal, we’ll be hosting some of the Lammermuir Festival events in the Star Room at the John Gray Centre, from 18th September.

John Gray Centre Museum opening hours over the holiday weekend are:

Friday 14 Sept: 10am–5pm
Saturday 15 Sept: 10am–4pm
Sunday 16 Sept: 1pm–4pm
Monday 17 Sept: 10am–5pm
