Exhibitions

The Land, the Sea, the People
Our permanent exhibition features different aspects of the social history of East Lothian, and we have recently launched an audio guide to accompany it, free to borrow when you visit, or try it online here.

The Rough Wooing: East Lothian in the Grip of War, 1542 – 1550

Explore how the siege of Haddington, the Battle of Pinkie and the story of the ‘Abbey’ of St Mary were linked to the destiny of the young Mary Stewart and the period of history known as the Rough Wooing.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see the stunning new exhibition which was put together by a team of volunteers and the Friends of the John Gray Centre. It features interactive and multimedia displays, replica costumes, activities for families and rare objects that have been loaned from private and national collections.

Bookbug Sessions at Haddington Library are every Wednesday 10.30am and 11.15am.  These are great for babies and children to sing songs, rhymes and listen to stories and gives you an opportunity to meet other parents, carers and children.  The sessions last for around 30 minutes each. You are welcome to either, or both, sessions. No need to book, just turn up.

There is lots on in the Star Room and at the library too – check their blog for more information.
