Susie Goodwin, ‘Light beams’

I am a visual artist and curator. Receiving my award was the catalyst for a valued period of intense and productive engagement which rooted my work in my immediate environment. Enlightened by a chance encounter with the light-filled visions of Buckminster Fuller and my late discovery of John Muir, my new works are derived from intense observation and reflection, nature and tactile raw materials being stitched or overlaid by mechanical processes in drawings and paintings, prints, installations and hand made books: each essentially seeking out the light and speaking of their organic roots. New and more collaborative ways of working have also emerged, not through a linear process, but by way of teasing out an elemental dialogue which rambles and flits and sparks a personal sense of place.

Listen to Susie talk about her work, and the piece she is exhibiting.
