Old sea dogs

A fierce cragged face worn from life’s weather
But, I see a small twinkle to belie your rapier stare
Was life hard for you salty old sea dogs?
Tossed, blown, wet and tired with just
Shanties and tall tales to buffer the might of the sea
We have yet a lot to learn
He, like the others here, has a lot to teach us
