1: 'Hoeing the Fields', painting by William Marshall Brown

Women o’ the field

HoeingtheFields_WMBrown_PaiWomen o’ the field

Modest dreams put aside with Sunday’s best

Hushed voices and heavy breath

Leaches o’er furrowed ground

Honest sweat adorns their brows

Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts

Toil and till and plant and reap

As natures seasons continue on

A woman’s work is never done
