- Description: sword is encased in a possibly leather covering which has broken half way, handle is shaped like a snake with a wooden carved head and a rubbery body that forms most of the handle, the handle has a second metal piece held at the base that is loose, on here is a symbol of an anchor, on the casing are three sections in metal, each with a possibly Greek pattern , the top two of these have a small hoop on which string is tied
Possibly linked to yeomanry helmet and belt elsewhere in collection
This is a sword that possibly belonged to the East Lothian Yeomanry Cavalry (now the Lothian and Borders Horse). It is quite fragile.
