Please note: due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak the Centre is currently closed, but our website is still open for business.

We hope you will enjoy using this website – and sharing your own knowledge and comments with others here.

You can leave a comment and add an image on almost every page to tell us what you think, or add to the information we’ve already supplied – we’d love to hear from you. Do this from home or at one of the JGC PCs – there’s free wifi here (with library card and PIN), and also all around East Lothian (check the East Lothian free wifi map).

We write regular blogs about discoveries and events at the JGC. You can also share your own stories of East Lothian’s heritage, whether it’s a tale from your village or an anecdote about a local hero, or even a family legend.

And if you’d like to join the conversation about what’s on and what people are talking about, why not visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter (we’re @JohnGrayCentre).  We aren’t producing a newsletter due to the Covid-19 situation, however, there are plenty of other ways to keep in touch.
